Architectural glazing near Polzeath, Cornwall

This residential project near Polzeath brings together Fineline sliding doors and frameless glass balustrade, combining two glazing features that complement contemporary architectural design.

For homeowners and architects planning a similar project in Cornwall, the relationship between doors, glazing and surrounding spaces is an important part of the design. Frame proportions, opening configurations and the position of balustrades all influence how the finished home looks and functions.

Fineline sliding doors

Fineline sliding doors form part of the glazing package for this Polzeath home. Their minimal framing offers a clean architectural appearance, allowing the glass to remain a prominent feature of the design.

When specifying sliding doors, appearance is only one consideration. The size of the opening, the arrangement of sliding and fixed panels, threshold details and everyday access should all be considered together. Early discussion helps ensure the chosen system suits both the architectural plans and the practical requirements of the home.

Frameless glass balustrade

The project also incorporates frameless glass balustrade. With no upright posts interrupting the glass panels, this approach creates a visually light barrier that works well alongside contemporary glazing.

For a new project, the balustrade specification needs to account for its location, fixing method, supporting structure and applicable safety requirements. Considering these details during the design stage helps coordinate the glazing with the wider construction.
