Commercial Glazing in Truro: Out on Site at Hyve at Tresawls Road
Our Commercial team is currently on site at Hyve at Tresawls Road in Truro. The team is carrying out commercial glazing in Truro as part of the new accommodation development.
Located close to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Hyve will provide 22 apartments and 89 bedrooms. The accommodation will sit across three residential blocks.
The development will provide purpose-built apartments for key workers, nurses and students. It will also provide accommodation within easy reach of the hospital.
For Camel Glass, the project involves installing a range of windows, doors and entrance products across all three blocks. We are working alongside Nevada Construction as the development progresses.

Commercial Glazing in Truro at Hyve
Our Commercial team is installing a range of products throughout the development.
These include:
Panic bars
With three apartment blocks to work across, the project requires careful planning. Therefore, our team works closely with the wider construction team throughout the installation.
Materials also need to arrive at the right stage of the build. This helps our team keep the installation moving alongside the wider construction programme.
The project showcases the range of commercial windows and doors that Camel Glass can supply and install across Cornwall and North Devon.
Behind the Scenes at Hyve Truro
A project of this scale involves a lot of work behind the scenes.
We’ve captured two separate interviews on site to give an insight into the development.
First, Chris, Head of Commercial at Camel Glass, talks about our role in the project. He also explains the products our team is installing and some of the challenges they face.
We also hear from Damien, Project Manager at Nevada Construction. He provides his perspective on the wider development and the work taking place on site.
Together, the two interviews provide different perspectives on the project. Chris focuses on the glazing installation, while Damien gives an insight into the wider construction work from Nevada Construction’s perspective.
Overcoming the Challenges of a Narrow Site
Every construction project has its own challenges. However, Hyve at Truro presents some particular logistical considerations.
The site is particularly long and narrow. As a result, moving materials around the development requires careful planning.
There is also no lift access within the buildings. This creates another challenge for our Commercial team.
The team needs to get windows, doors and other materials to the higher floors. Therefore, we have had to find practical solutions for moving products around the site.
Getting Windows and Doors to the Upper Floors
The site crane plays an important role in moving materials around the development. It allows the team to lift products to the higher floors.
In some areas, the construction team has left window openings available. This allows larger items to move directly into the buildings by crane.
As a result, our team can get larger products into position without relying solely on internal access.
Careful planning remains essential throughout the project. Materials need to reach the right location at the right time.
Commercial glazing involves much more than installing the finished products. Our team also needs to consider access, deliveries and storage.
In addition, we need to work around the different stages of construction. This requires regular coordination with the wider site team.
Working Across Three Apartment Blocks
Our team is currently working across all three blocks at Hyve. Installation work is progressing alongside the wider construction programme.
The project includes a variety of windows, doors and entrance systems. These include uPVC windows and doors, sliding doors, panic bars and aluminium front doors.
Working across a development of this scale requires close communication. Therefore, our team coordinates with everyone involved on site.
The long, narrow site adds another logistical challenge. Meanwhile, the lack of lift access also needs to be considered throughout the installation.
Our Commercial team continues to find practical solutions as the project progresses. This helps keep the installation moving alongside the wider build.
Commercial Glazing Across Cornwall
Hyve at Tresawls Road will provide purpose-built accommodation close to the Royal Cornwall Hospital. The development will include 89 bedrooms across three residential blocks.
As work continues, our Commercial team will remain on site. The team will continue installing windows, doors and entrance systems across the development.
Projects like Hyve highlight the practical expertise involved in commercial glazing projects in Cornwall.
This includes coordinating deliveries and overcoming access challenges. It also means working closely with other teams on a busy construction site.
